"One line from the Resistance 2 write-up omitted in the quote above reveals a significant plot detail from a climactic moment of the game. Fallout 3 is another title with a key revelation included in the summary."

*shrugs* At least the descriptions aren't on the games themselves. If that were the case, I'd care a little more. But, as it stands, I don't really care. That, and I actually support the reasoning. I mean, having a game rated M for blood, gore, intense violence, and language is very vague. Having a game rated M for "players must battle hordes of aliens ... characters use excessive profanity" etc, etc, etc is actually more descriptive. If the parents want to know why a certain game is a certain rating, then these parents have a right to know. Parents can just go the ESRB website for the detailed description, and if they like what they see, they can get the game for their child. If not, then they don't.

No, this sort of thing is not a "fail" for the ESRB. It's a very good thing indeed. Those that don't want to be spoiled do not have to go to the ESRB website. I'm not going to utilize this feature, because I'd go by the previews of the games that appeal to me. If I like it, then I may just buy it.

But to each his own.

Hmm, good for them. Too bad no one even reads the labels anymore, or care unless someone is looking for a scapegoat for bad parenting.
